IST becomes a part-owner of Schoolido
IST is becoming a part-owner of the edtech company Schoolido, a digital learning service for years 7–9. The partnership means that, as early as May 2017, IST will be able to start offering pupils, teachers and parents access to Schoolido’s quality-assured digital learning tools.
“In a short time, Schoolido has succeeded in building a successful operation and is right at the leading edge when it comes to digital learning resources. We see major opportunities in being able to offer Schoolido to our approximately 5 million users, thus helping to create a better learning process for the country’s pupils,” says IST’s CEO, Tommy Eklund.
Follows the curriculum
Schoolido currently has 12 complete school subjects for years 7–9. All subjects follow the school curriculum and have been reviewed and quality assured by teachers and lecturers, among others. Through videos, pictures, texts and more detailed information, pupils are able to take on board knowledge in their own way, while the Schoolroom forum allows them to work with each other. Schoolido is often used on the private market as a much-valued homework assistance tool.
“IST is an incredibly important partner, with the strength to reach both the public sector and an enormous group of private users. Today, most of what we need can be found on our mobile, but even so a great number of relevant and user-friendly learning services are lagging behind. With this investment, we are taking a solid step forward,” says Oskar Schröder, co-founder and production manager at Schoolido.
In keeping with growth strategy
On IST’s part, the part-ownership of Schoolido is a strategically important investment in keeping with the company’s growth strategy.
“We are in a strong position on the market and have all the prerequisites for continued expansion. Along with Schoolido’s expertise, we are further broadening what we offer – not least given our joint experience of software development and knowledge of digital tools,” says Tommy Eklund.
Schoolido is an award-winning and fast-growing start-up company in the field of edtech. The service currently has over 36,000 registered users and is used in schools throughout Sweden. In 2016, Schoolido’s website was named best education site of the year by Internet World/IDG. The company employs nine people and started sales in 2016. Read more at www.schoolido.se.
