Norwegian counties appoint IST as supplier of their school systems
Norwegian counties illustrate renewed confidence in the edtech company IST by appointing it to supply school administrative IT services to their secondary schools. The co-operation agreement runs until January, 2020, with a renewal option for a three year extension. IST will also provide user support, operational and consultancy services to the counties.
– We are happy and proud that the counties have selected IST as their co-operation partner given the stringent requirements imposed when it comes to IT solutions in schools. That we have agreed to a co-operation that extends into the next decade only adds to that pride and shows that confidence in IST is high, says Odd Henning Dypvik, Head of Business Region Norway.
The school of the future
The agreement, that applies to all of the country’s counties with the exception of Nordland, offers an option for them to start using IST’s new cloud-based school solution, IST School. This is currently used in around a quarter of all primary schools in Norway.
– With IST’s new school solution, the counties have the opportunity to take a further step today towards the school of the future. Amongst other things, this means that they increase the efficiency of operations with improved management support in a solution that is flexible and can be tailored to changing operational requirements. In particular, IST’s new solution offers new possibilities for good communications with parents and other external partners. It feels amazing to be able to contribute to this, says Odd Henning Dypvik.
Foremost in Scandinavia
IST is the leading supplier of IT solutions for schools and childcare facilities in Scandinavia. In financial terms, 2016 can be summarized as the best in the company’s history with an operating income of SEK 50 million, representing a 148% increase on the previous year.
– This had surpassed all of our expectations and what will follow is that we will now roll out our IT solutions for schools throughout the whole of Scandinavia. Behind this success is an increase in demand driven by the digitalization trend. Our ambition is to lead the market transformation when the new digital school emerges, says Tommy Eklund, CEO at IST.
The value of the contract including options is estimated to be around SEK 270 million.
