Oslo Municipality in major, new co-operation with IST

6 / 7 - 2017

The Municipality of Oslo has chosen the Edtech company IST to be the provider of new school administrative solutions for the municipality’s schools. In total, there are over 170 schools with around 80,000 students which will now be supplied with a modern and user-friendly solution for all roles in schools – students, teachers, parents and others.

– We are extremely pleased and proud that Oslo Municipality has chosen IST as supplier. With this new solution, schools gain access to tools which improve and simplify interaction between the various roles and systems found in schools. Everyone with children of school age knows how important it is that communication within schools works and we can see that this will make a big difference, says Odd Henning Dypvik, Head of Business Region Norway at IST.

Daycare first out
The assignment will see IST delivering IST Administration to the municipality’s 145 primary schools and 27 secondary schools. IST Administration incorporates IST Applications which has been developed for simple and effective communication between different roles and between the various systems which can be found in these establishments. The many daycare centres located in the municipality will be the first to benefit from the new system, with primary schools and secondary schools to follow thereafter.

We will commence with deliveries immediately. For a municipality such as Oslo, it is important to have a flexible co-operation partner who can simultaneously deliver solutions with high availability and security, and we will do our best to fulfil those expectations, says Tove Torstensson, Head of Marketing & Sales, Business Region Norway.

Foremost in Scandinavia
IST is the leading supplier of IT solutions for schools and childcare facilities in Scandinavia. The company currently has a market share of around 60% amongst Norwegian municipalities. The share among secondary schools which use IST solutions is even higher, exceeding 90%.

– This co-operation consolidates our position in Norway as well as Scandinavia in general and we are looking forward to contributing to a future-oriented, digital solution for Oslo Municipality’s many schools. One big advantage is that the new solution provides completely different possibilities for dialogue with parents and other external partners, something that creates added value both for homes and schools, says Tommy Eklund, IST CEO.

More about the co-operation
With IST Administration, the municipality’s teachers, students and parents gain access to a modern, future-oriented administrative solution with a focus on dialogue and user-friendliness. The solution also provides the municipality with important support for management and decision-making. The agreement between IST and the Municipality of Oslo runs to at least 2020.

It will come into effect from and including July 5th, 2017, with an estimated value of around NOK 51 million. IST will also be responsible for user support and the running of a large number of the municipality’s other applications and systems.
