IST enlists Sweden's foremost female executive

5 / 10 - 2016

The EdTech company IST has strengthened its ranks with Anna Brynås, who was earlier this year named Female Young Executive of the Year 2016 by Ledarna, Sweden’s organisation for managers. She will join IST by the end of the year, after leaving her current position as CEO at Swedish Biogas.

"One of my absolute strongest motivations is to work with things that have a positive societal impact. IST has a genuine engagement with society and improves the day-to-day experiences of teachers, their students and families. That was crucial to my decision to accept the role", says Anna Brynås.

Anna Brynås, 34, is besides CEO at Sweden's largest producer of biogas, Swedish Biogas, also Chairman of the Board of the three subsidiaries Jordberga, Västerås and Vadsbo. Anna's background also includes roles as process engineer and business developer. During the period 2010–2012, she was active as a political lobbyist in Michigan, USA, for Swedish Biogas.

300 nominees
At the beginning of 2016, Anna Brynås was bestowed the title of Female Young Executive of the Year, from among 300 nominated candidates. In support of the decision, she was recognised for her dedication to commercial sustainability, innovation, bravery and reassuring leadership style.
The jury also declared its belief that her knowledge, enthusiasm and skill in relationship building had breathed new life and created better conditions in the entire Biogas industry.
New challenges now await in the EdTech sector with IST, the Nordic region's largest supplier of IT solutions for schools.

"Exceptionally talented manager"

"Anna is one of the most sought-after managers in Sweden at the moment, and we are very proud that she decided to join us. She is an exceptionally talented manager with the ability to spur on her team and co-workers with energy and enthusiasm, and it’s just that type of leader and person who we want to build the future together with", says Tommy Eklund, CEO at IST.

Anna Brynås will be a part of Group management and will take on the responsibility for an entirely new business area within the company, IST Home. She will formally take on the role at the turn of the year 2016/2017.
