We halved our total carbon footprint in 2020

Published 10 December 2021

On our mission to become as sustainable as possible, we have produced our first ever CO2 report. This is a way for us to record our annual carbon footprint and start working towards our long-term goal, which is to reach CO2 neutrality.

We started to measure our carbon footprint for the entire IST Group in 2019; therefore, this year serves as the baseline year for this report.

Between 2019 and 2020, the whole IST organization saved almost 200 tonnes of CO2, which is the equivalent of the total energy usage of 24 houses for one year.

This is the result of us travelling significantly less due to the pandemic and by switching to renewable electricity and heating in several of our offices.

“By measuring our CO2 emissions, we will be able to set concrete goals to reduce our environmental impacts and take actions where it is most significant. This is a cornerstone of our environmental management system, which we were certified according to ISO 14001 earlier this year.”

Elisabeth Wandel, Sustainability Manager at IST

She continued: “Our CO2 report is a start to expanding how we view our business performance to consider financial figures as well as environmental impact.”

“We aim to continue reporting on our carbon footprint every year to follow up on our progress towards reaching CO2 neutrality.”

The carbon report will become one of our annual reports and covers the overall performance for IST Group as well as the data for each of our business units.
